OUR LADY OF THE FAROES

We greet you with loving hearts O Mary,

Our Lady of the Faroe Islands.

Mother of Jesus, you are also our own heavenly mother.

With confidence we invoke your maternal blessing

Upon ourselves and upon our beloved homeland

Cradled here in the embrace of the north Atlantic.

Through you we offer our thanks and praise

To Jesus, for the faith and perseverance of our people

And we implore his blessing upon all our families

And upon friends who visit our island homeland.

The grandeur of our mountains reflects for us

Your beauty and the strength of your faith.

The rolling tides of ocean which enwraps our shores

Tell us of the endless mantle of your love for us.

The winds that sweep across our hills and dales

Make us aware of the Breath of the Holy Spirit

Who overshadowed you at Nazareth

When the Word became man and dwelt among us.

Be mindful now of the dedication of our forefathers

Who nurtured a strong and lasting faith

Throughout the silent and prayerful places of our land.

Give to us in our own day a devotion that will reflect

Our traditions, and which under your motherly guidance

Will always give all honor, praise and glory.
